Unit Restrictions
Units can be disabled for all players including the AI in AI skirmish or multiplayer games you create.
Unit restrictions do not apply to Galactic War.
Server Mods
Servers mods are uploaded to the server when you create an AI skirmish or multiplayer game then downloaded and mounted (loaded) on each client for all players and spectators when they join your game.
Only server mods can change the unit roster or unit specs in an AI skirmish or multiplayer game and are downloaded from the server by each client to prevent cheating.
Large unit server mods may take some time to upload / download if you have slow internet upload / download speeds.
Multiple conflicting unit server mods may cause issues like no build bar and server crashes.
Client Mods
Client mods are mounted (loaded) only on your client and do not affect other players.
Client mods cannot change units or unit specs in AI skirmish or multiplayer games.
Companion Client Mods
Companion mods are special client mods that are temporarily mounted automatically when needed by server mods.
If not active, companion mods are automatically downloaded / updated then mounted when you join or spectate an AI skirmish or multiplayer game then unmounted when the game finishes.
Large unit server mods like Legion Expansion uses companion mods to reduce the size of server mods and their upload / download times.
Installing Mods
Installing a mod will download a compressed zip of the mod to your local PA download cache.
Active mods will be automatically updated during startup and after each game.
Offline Mode
Most installed mods can be used in offline mode without an internet connection (some mods may require an internet connection).
